Since 1972, Roberto Bellini developed the Pieve Santa Restituta estate into a promising winegrowing property. In 1994, renowned winemaker Angelo Gaja became a partner, eventually taking full ownership of the estate in Montalcino. The estate is named after a 17th-century church restored by the Gaja family.
Gaja invested heavily in replanting vineyards at higher density and updating the underground cellar. The estate produces two Brunellos—Sugarille and Rennina—on 16 hectares of limestone and clay soil, ideal for Sangiovese grapes. The winery, integrated into the existing cellar, follows a classic winemaking style focused on tannin development, acidity, and elegance, with Gaja’s daughter Gaia also involved.
