Description

In this small single vineyard, planted between 1964 and 1966 in the Mas La Plana estate in Penedes, only the most-select Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown. These are used to make strictly limited quantities of Torres’s most prestigious red wine, now known to connoisseurs all over the world. In the Paris Wine Olympiad, the 1970 vintage triumphed over some of the most famous wines in the world, including Chateau Latour. This success has been repeated on several other occasions, with Gran Coronas Mas La Plana notching up numerous other international awards. After harvest, the wine is aged during 18 months in French oak barrels (85% new oak).

Intense aroma showing all the classic characteristics of the native land of Mas La Plana, already bouquet-rich: aromas of cocoa bean, menthol and blackcurrant. Very ripe (but not jammy) Cabernet Sauvignon. Dense in the mouth, firm, grainy yet ripe tannin with positive astringency, good holding acidity, extract-rich to chew, has potential for decades, finishes salty. The legend lives – and tastes better than ever.
